Why use our freight forwarders to transport your goods?

Our freight forwarding is a holistic service, and takes into account your shipping documents, freight rates, customs clearance, packing, insurance, road transport, and the delivery of your cargo to its intended destination.

Put simply, we take full responsibility of your cargo to ensure it reaches its destination. With a network of official channels and trusted industry contacts, we integrate with the necessary airline or sealane carriers to ensure every step in the process is managed for you.

What is the freight forwarding process and how can a freight forwarder help?

The freight forwarding process includes a number of different steps, depending on your transport needs. Here are the five main stages involved:

    1. We get the wheels moving

Also known as export haulage, we move your goods from your original location to our warehouse. We then review your cargo and ensure all your goods are present and accounted for.

    2. Export customs clearance

We work with expert customs brokers to provide all the necessary details of your cargo and ensure you have the necessary customs clearance in place that allow your goods to leave the country.

    3. Transport

We transport your cargo to where it needs to go, using your preferred method of transport. Air, rail, road, or sea, we’ve got you covered.

    4. Import customs clearance

We manage your import customs and provide all the details they need to allow your cargo into the country.

    5. The last leg

As your chosen freight forwarders, our team arranges transport of your cargo, and see it safely to its arrival destination. Taking care of all the logistical planning for you.

How do I choose the right freight forwarder?

Choosing the right freight forwarder is about finding a company that you trust to take full responsibility for your cargo.

A reputable freight forwarding company will seek first to understand your needs, then provide a solution. They’ll ask the right questions to understand what it is you need to transport, how you want to get it there, and help you choose the best transport method that works with your timeline and budget.

It’s also critical that they provide flexibility in how they work. After all, things may not always go to plan, and issues can crop up that require quick thinking. Your freight forwarding service must be able to provide alternative options that deliver on your needs.

It should be a partnership: they’re helping you achieve your outcome. So their communication needs to be open, honest, and transparent. You’re kept in the loop across all their operations and pricing structures.

So we recommend when you find a freight forwarding service you’re considering, ask around. Check with colleagues and contacts, read online reviews, and make sure you hear good things about their service.

      Frequently Asked Questions

We transport and deliver your goods from Melbourne, Australia to anywhere in the world. Conversely, we can forward freight from anywhere in the world into Melbourne, and then manage transport and delivery to anywhere in Australia. Our Australia-wide delivery network means we can get it wherever you need to go, sooner.

The cost of freight forwarding depends on what you’re transporting, the method of freight forwarding you’re using, your timelines, and the associated services involved. When we work with you, we manage all these variables to provide the most cost-effective solution that suits your timing and budget.

Although freight forwarding and logistics share some operational aspects, they are distinct services. Freight forwarding specifically refers to the organisation and management of moving goods from one place to another, with a sole focus on getting your goods from point A to point B.

Freight management is only a small part of logistics, which encompasses a much broader range of activities. In addition to freight forwarding, logistics also involves overseeing transportation, fleets, warehouses, inventory, supply and demand, and third-party logistics.

We handle the entire process for you from start to finish, from pickup to delivery. We involve our global network of trusted agents to coordinate the paperwork, customs, transport, travel, and timing, so you don’t have to.

We’re not locked into a contract with any one carrier. Instead, we have a wide range of trusted global and local carriers that we work with. For your freight forwarding needs, we’ll identify which of our network will offer the best service, best rates, and fastest deliver at that time.

We help you access the size of container that best suits your transport needs. However, the most common sized containers we supply to our customers are the 20-foot and 40-foot shipping containers.

International Commercial Terms, also known as Inco terms, consist of 11 rules that specify the responsibilities, risks, and costs involved in international transportation. They are revised annually.

Inco terms, as of 2023 are:

      EXW - Ex-Works
Throughout the shipping process, the majority of cost and risk are assumed by the buyer. All the seller needs to ensure is that the buyer can access their goods.

      FCA - Free Carrier
The seller is responsible for delivering their goods to the carrier chosen by the buyer at a mutually agreed location. The seller must also clear the goods for export.

      CPT - Carriage Paid To
It is the seller's responsibility to transport the goods to the agreed-upon location of the buyer's carrier and cover all delivery costs. Additionally, they must clear the goods for export.

CIP - Carriage and Insurance Paid to
It is the responsibility of the seller to transport their goods to the buyer's carrier at an agreed-upon location. The seller must cover all costs related to carriage, insurance (up to the maximum level), and delivery. Additionally, the seller must clear the goods for export.

DPU - Delivered at Place Unloaded (previously DAT - Delivered At Terminal)
The seller will bear all expenses and risks associated with delivering the goods to an agreed-upon unloading location. This includes handling customs clearance and unloading arrangements, while the buyer is responsible for import clearance and any associated fees.

      DAP - Delivered At Place
The seller is responsible for costs and risks during transportation until the goods are delivered and ready to be unloaded at their destination.

      DDP - Delivered Duty Paid
The seller is responsible for most of the costs and risks during the shipping process, ensuring that they are present for unloading and handling any import or export obligations and charges.

      FAS - Free Alongside Ship
The seller will cover all costs and risks associated with the goods until they are delivered to the specified ship. After delivery, the buyer will be responsible for any import or export clearance as well as assuming all risks.

      FOB - Free On Board
The seller bears all costs and risks until the goods are delivered on board the ship and is responsible for export clearance. Once the goods are on board, the buyer assumes all responsibility.

      CFR - Cost And Freight
The seller bears all the costs and risks associated with the goods from the moment they are loaded until they are delivered to the port.

CIF - Cost, Insurance and Freight
The seller is in charge of paying for all costs and risks associated with the goods, including insurance coverage (which must be at least 110% of the invoice value), and takes full responsibility for the goods once they are on the shipping vessel. This arrangement remains in effect until the goods are delivered to the port. The seller will purchase additional insurance coverage for the buyer, but the buyer will be responsible for the cost.
